After months and months of searching, in May of 2014, we finally found a nice location for our tattoo shop in Amsterdam on the Overtoom right on the border of the city center and a 5 minute walk from Leidseplein, which is one of Amsterdam’s main squares. We didn’t have a lot of time to put it together because we were set on opening at the beginning of summer, so that only gave us one month to get it ready enough to open the doors.
The grand opening was a lot of fun and was already quite packed by the early night with family, friends and regular customers. We had friends come from all over Holland, Germany, Denmark, U.K., Mexico, USA, Luxembourg and of course Italy. Some Italians were fashionably late 😉 and showed up the following morning which kept the party going for a few more days. But, because we wanted to have our opening by the beginning of summer it made it quite difficult for some friends from far way to make travel arrangements on such a short notice. So, we decided to throw another party at the end of the summer, a few days prior to the London tattoo convention. Thanks to all of you who came and we are also very grateful to those who have not been able to make it but have sent paintings, flash and well wishes.
Lastly, we want to give a very special thanks to Maurits van de Grift, Eva Smit’s Lucky Cat Agency for the event’s staff, to Kornuit Beer for the sponsorship, Maarten Emily, Steve from Cryptic Tattoo (California), Gabriele Franco, our compadre Tony Salgado from Por Vida Tattoo and our apprentice Jur and his family for helping out and make our Amsterdam tattoo shop Sawyer Family Artistic Tattooing a fact. We couldn’t have done it without you guys!
We love you all!!
